Regulatory status

Guap is operated by Avocado Financial Technologies Ltd, a company registered in Trinidad and Tobago. Avocado Financial Technologies Ltd is the service provider for Guap users in Trinidad and Tobago.

Guap participates in the Virtual Asset Regulatory Sandbox administered by the Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission (TTSEC), under the Virtual Assets and Virtual Asset Service Providers Act, 2025. We operate under a Certificate of Acceptance issued by the TTSEC.

What this means for you

Guap is authorised to offer virtual asset services in Trinidad and Tobago under sandbox supervision. The TTSEC monitors our operations on an ongoing basis to make sure we meet the required standards.

What we commit to while certified

As long as we hold our Certificate of Acceptance, you can use Guap knowing that:

• We are supervised by the TTSEC
• We are required to follow Trinidad and Tobago's anti-money laundering and counter-financing of terrorism laws
• We verify your identity before you can exchange cash at a Guap Teller — see why we ask
• We keep records of transactions as required by law
• You have the right to make a complaint and have it reviewed — see complaints
