Receive money from abroad

You don't need a Trinidad bank account to receive money from abroad. Your sender uses a Lightning-enabled app, sends to your Guap address, and the money lands in your app in seconds as USDB, Guap's digital dollar (1 USDB is designed to equal 1 US dollar).

From there you can cash out to TT$100 bills at any Guap Teller, or hold digital dollars in the app.

Your Lightning address

Whoever is sending just needs your Lightning address: yourname@guap.to. Find it in the app under Add Cash → Bitcoin Wallets. It works from any country with a Lightning-enabled wallet.

From the United States

Strike (strike.me) is the cleanest option. It connects to a US bank, sends to any Lightning address, and your sender needs no crypto knowledge.

1. Your sender signs up at strike.me and links their US bank account.
2. They fund their Strike balance from the bank.
3. In Strike, they send Lightning to your yourname@guap.to address.
4. It lands in your Guap App in seconds as USDB.

From the United States with Cash App

Cash App has its own flow in Guap — it doesn't use your Lightning address. Cash App sends USDC on the Solana network, and Guap converts it to USDB automatically with no fees.

1. In your Guap App, open Add Cash → Cash App and copy the address shown.
2. Send that address to whoever is paying you.
3. In Cash App, they open the Payments ($) tab, enter at least $1, tap Pay, and paste your address.
4. They choose the Solana network and tap Send. It lands in your Guap App as USDB.

New York: Cash App doesn't offer stablecoins in New York, so senders there use the Cash App for New York option instead — it sends Bitcoin from their Cash App bitcoin balance to an address your Guap App generates, and it converts to USDB automatically.

From the United Kingdom

Strike is fully supported in the UK. The flow is the same: your sender signs up at strike.me, links a UK bank account, and sends to your yourname@guap.to address.

From Canada

Strike does not support Canada. Your sender uses one of these instead:

• Shakepay (shakepay.com) — connects to a Canadian bank and supports Lightning sends.
• Bull Bitcoin — also supports Lightning sends from Canada.
• Or they buy Bitcoin on any Canadian exchange and forward it to your address over Lightning.

From anywhere else

Any Lightning-enabled wallet works. Your sender needs two things:

1. Get Bitcoin into the wallet — through a local bank, an exchange, or peer-to-peer.
2. Send it over Lightning to your yourname@guap.to address.

When the money arrives

Funds land in your Guap App in seconds as USDB. Receiving into Guap is typically free — see fees.

1. Open the app and confirm the balance arrived.
2. Visit any Guap Teller and cash out to TT$100 bills — the full walkthrough is in buy and cash out.
3. Or hold it in the app and spend or send it later.

The Teller works only with the Guap App, so get set up before your first visit. How much you can cash out depends on your verification tier — see limits.

Sending money the other way

The reverse path works too. Buy USDB with cash at a Teller, then send it abroad — over Lightning to Strike or Shakepay, or through the dedicated Cash App flow (Cash out → Cash App) — where the recipient withdraws to their bank. See send money from the app for steps.
